Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 25, 2026
What you write in Icky is personal: how you feel, what happened, what you want to say to someone and will not send. This policy explains what the Icky app and ickyapp.com collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how you delete it.
The short version: we collect what the app needs to work. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your journal, your messages or your AI conversations for advertising. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
Who we are
Icky is made by Songtive SIA (“Songtive”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in Latvia. Songtive is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions and requests: [email protected].
About Icky
Icky is a breakup recovery app for iPhone and Android. It counts your no-contact streak, gives you a Panic Button for the urge to text, a daily mood check-in with a journal, grounding and breathing exercises, a place for unsent messages, an AI companion you can talk to by text or voice, and home-screen widgets on iPhone.
What we collect
- Account data. You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and a password. We receive your email address (with Sign in with Apple this can be a private relay address) and an account identifier. We never see your Apple or Google password. If you use email sign-in, your password is stored only as a hash by our authentication provider.
- Onboarding answers. The questions at the start: how long ago the breakup happened, how long you were together, who ended it, whether you still talk, your gender, your age range, how you feel, what is hardest right now, how strong the urge to contact them is, and the date of your last contact. They personalize the app and the AI companion.
- What you create in the app. Your no-contact streak and its resets, mood check-ins and journal entries, unsent messages (and the name you put on them, if any), your answers in grounding exercises, and your conversations with the AI companion.
- Voice. Only when you use voice mode with the AI companion, and only with your microphone permission. The recording is sent to be turned into text and is not stored by us.
- Purchases. If you subscribe to Icky Pro, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive the subscription status and the purchase history, never your card details.
- Usage and device data. Which screens and features you use, app version, operating system, device model, language, country, and an app-generated identifier. We use it to find bugs and to see which parts of Icky help people.
- Feedback. When you send feedback or a feature request, we receive your message, the email address you leave in the form (optional), and the app version, platform, OS version and language.
- Website. ickyapp.com sets no cookies and has no ads or trackers. Our servers keep standard access logs (IP address, browser, page, time) to keep the site running and secure.
Mood entries, journal entries and conversations can say something about your emotional health. We treat them as sensitive data. We process them only because you choose to enter them, only to give you the feature, and you can delete them at any time.
How we use it
- To run your account and sync your data between your devices.
- To show your streak, your mood history and your widgets.
- To give the AI companion the context it needs to answer you (see below).
- To process subscriptions and restore purchases.
- To schedule reminders. They are set on your device; you can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- To fix bugs, improve the app and measure whether our own ads bring people to Icky.
- To answer your feedback and support requests.
Legal bases (GDPR): performance of our contract with you (the app's features), your explicit consent (the sensitive data you choose to enter, voice, notifications), and our legitimate interest in keeping Icky secure and improving it (usage data and logs).
The AI companion
When you talk to the AI companion, the app sends your message, the earlier messages of that conversation, and a short summary of your situation (your onboarding answers, your no-contact day and your last mood) to our server at songtive.com. Our server forwards the request to our AI provider, xAI, which writes the reply and, in voice mode, turns speech into text and text into speech. Our server does not keep the conversation; it only counts how many requests each account makes, to enforce fair-use limits. The conversation is saved in your Icky account so you can come back to it, and it is deleted with your account.
The AI companion is software, not a person and not a therapist. It can be wrong. Do not rely on it in an emergency.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers. Each one processes data only on our behalf, under a data processing agreement, and only for the purpose below.
- Supabase — sign-in and the database that stores your account and what you create in the app.
- xAI — the AI companion's replies, speech-to-text and text-to-speech.
- RevenueCat — manages subscriptions and receipts from Apple and Google.
- Apple and Google — sign-in (if you choose it), payments, app distribution, and the store review prompt.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — app usage statistics and measurement of our ad campaigns.
- Songtive's own servers — the AI gateway, feedback email, app analytics and this website.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.
International transfers
Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. When they do, the transfer is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep it
- Your account and everything in it: until you delete your account.
- Usage data: kept in pseudonymous form for as long as it is useful to improve the app. Ask us and we delete the events linked to your account.
- Feedback emails: as long as we need them to answer and to follow up on the request.
- Server logs: a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Profile and choose Delete account. This immediately deletes your account, your streak, mood and journal entries, unsent messages, exercise answers, AI conversations and profile from our database. Copies in encrypted backups are overwritten on the backup schedule. If you cannot open the app, follow the steps on songtive.com/pages/ick-delete-account or email [email protected].
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you can ask us for access to your data, a copy of it, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or you can object to it. You can withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing that happened before. Email [email protected]. We answer within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in Latvia this is the Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija).
Age
Icky is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you are under 18, use Icky only with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you think a child under 13 has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic between the app, our servers and our providers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your data in the database is restricted to your own account. Payments never pass through our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit who can access it.
If you are in crisis
Icky is a self-help app, not a medical service or a crisis line. If you are in danger or thinking about hurting yourself, call your local emergency number now. In the US you can call or text 988.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If the change is significant, we also tell you in the app.
